The UK's physical sales chart always shifts a fair amount whenever Nintendo releases a first-party title, and it's happened again with Splatoon 3. It knocks The Last of Us: Part I off its number one perch, which now resides in fourth place. Meanwhile, Horizon Forbidden West is holding steady in second, its sales buoyed by bundles with the PS5 itself.
Looking further down, new release NBA 2K23 isn't a slam dunk, but still manages a top 10 debut in sixth place. More than half of the physical copies sold were for PS5. Saints Row, sixth last week, now moves into ninth, again selling best on Sony's current-gen hardware. Moving out of the top 10 is F1 Manager 2022, TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection, and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
Here's the latest top 10 in full.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 10th September 2022
- Splatoon 3
- Horizon Forbidden West
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- The Last of Us: Part I
- Nintendo Switch Sports
- NBA 2K23

- Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Sony and Nintendo games in top 5 is what best for gaming .
Love seeing nintendo destroying it every month 🤣 love seeing mario kart destroy the last of us haha
@Kyevo8814 Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is unstoppable!
@Kyevo8814 that's... one way to live your life.
@Quintumply it really is its definetly a gta5 level game with sales and streak crazy really same with animal crossing and minecraft
I'm starting to think that people are tiling their bathrooms with copies of MK8!
@TheDarkSide replacing the old GTA5 ones?
not knocking its sales, but imo i think MK8 (indeed many switch games) sell better physical because of kids with birthdays xmas etc
@stvevan That, and cartridges feel so much more valuable than discs. And: Games on cartridges don’t need rare Switch internal storage, while using PS discs don‘t save rre PS5 internal storage at all.
@stvevan Every day new children are born, every day new gamers are created in the playgrounds. Switch + Mario Kart 8 is one of the first games to play/buy on that journey. Minecraft another evergreen title that keeps selling. GTA5 when they graduate to little angsty turd.
@eltomo 😂 Nah, I think GTA was for tiling the roof.
Ohhh a new nba 2k released and it's not even in the top 5 😯🤔
Or is that because it's been just 2 days
@TheDarkSide Mario Kart 8, a 5 year old game, is still being sold for £40! I am outraged!! Nintendo is profiteering from fans like me who after 5 years have waited patiently for them to drop the price so I can have a nice looking bathroom. It's sickening and we need someone to take a stance on this for us!!
Splatoon 3 was always gonna do well especially when you consider there's well over 100 mil Switches compared to TLoU remake has I think 21 mil PS5. But damn Mario Kart 8 still a beast in the charts like GTA5 was. With how it's hybrid sales of both Nintendo type fans of both its console and handheld crowd combined is a very successful one and wouldn't be surprised if it comes close to PS2, all depends maybe on how many more new Switch versions get released
Mario kart 8 deluxe is basically the trend with kids right now so definitely won't be leaving the top 10 any time soon, so unfortunately gives nintendo a reason to be lazy and not bring out number 9. No new Mario kart for a whole gen.....
Good to see HFW still killing it, for me it's the best game released this year behind elden ring, so hopefully gets some goty awards as it deserves.
Mario Kart 8 selling more than TLOU, Part 1 in week 2. That’s such a loaded statement.
Well according to some TLOU remake/master is the satan spawn of games and should've been gifted to the players and how dare they charge money for it blah blah blah.
MK8 has like what; 100 tracks now.
Called it... First a rehash at $70 from Sony at #1... Then a cut and paste game at $60 from Nintendo at #1 (with "large-scale paid DLC" on top)
Just wait for the next 3rd party to be criticized for being the "same game" or not "revolutionize gameplay" since the last version.
We are about to get 5 Pokemon games in 12 months - Five!. If Ubi did that with AC in 12 months - Rage! 😅
I always wonder who the people are that read something as benign as a weekly sales chart and think, alright cool now lemme pick a fight.
Is it just boredom? Like my almost universal response to these is an ambivalent "okay" and then I head to the comments where you'd think we were discussing some deeply controversial political matter.
@riceNpea I'm gonna push the boat out and tile my bathroom with copies of TLOU Pt1.
..... /Flees from baying horde! 😂
@zupertramp gamers like to keep an eye on these things from time to time even if this is just UK physical. I mean it's no bad thing to see a chart position of a game, especially if you've purchased one or two of these new games over past week or two. Fighting over these things yh it's a bit stupid I agree but it's also not great if someone complains about these things either cause it really doesn't add much to the conversation either. Genuinely not picking a fight lol
Nice to see Splatoon continuing to succeed. It's such a unique take on the competitive online third-person shooter genre, and this'll be the best entry yet once they patch it up a bit to address these connectivity issues some people are having.
It's natural to want to see a game you've just purchased do well in any chart and nothing wrong going to the comments section to have your say. I haven't seen any keir Starmer, Boris Johnson, Liz Truss or Rishi Sunak type comments anywhere on these comments. Just a lot of Switch PS5 type comments cause that's what's mostly in the current charts, nothing wrong with talking about that and no doubt will be the same on next week chart comments. It's like if Series X/S caught up with the PS5 overall sales in the next 36 months you'd wanna read about it and have your say in the comments just like you would when you see a game you've just purchased enter the weekly charts
@Beerheadgamer82 just think when someone is happy to see some game "destroying" other games (whatever that means really), which is one of the first comments you're greeted with, it's hard not to be like, huh?
But fair point that overall the comments seem generally tame, even amusing. Guess I just assumed things went south from the jump, as they often do. I admit to not reading every comment. Though in my defense likening the rhetoric to a political discussion was meant to be hyperbolic.
And if you feel I've gone too off topic, or if anyone does, my apologies.
@zupertramp no need for any apologies is all good. You are spot on about the boredom thing though, like I'm doing my jobsearch today applying for jobs and stuff which does get really boring throughout the day so at the same time I log into my Facebook or Push Square to see what's going on in gaming news. I must admit I can talk a lot of crap sometimes while trying to make sense ha
@UltimateOtaku91
I enjoyed 'Horizon Forbidden West' (although I think I prefer the story of the original), but its continued sales are likely down to the PS5 console bundles being included in the charts. The £530 bundle of PS5 + HFW seems to be much more plentiful in stores vs PS5 only £480 (up from £450 & £500).
pointless doing a physical only sales chart 80% of the sales data is missing as digital accounts for 80% of game sales now
Splatoon 3 100% deserves it. It's such a great series and 3 just adds onto it.
@trev666 total sales yes, but I suspect day 1 full price purchases still have a very high physical %.
Probably higher than even the suppliers think, considering how often physical versions of releases are unavailable for the first week or two.
Bought Splatoon 3 and it deserves its sales.
It sold 3.5 million in Japan alone which is crazy, wouldn't be shocked if it broke 6 million in 3 days.
